Have always wanted music on my site, but as always i wanted something different, something that was suitable, something that was unique, amazing, heart stopping and made you think about the words and what they meant in relation to what i do. Well…. this has meant no music for about two years LOL! Not that music hasn’t moved me but nothing has captured me until today.Few clicks on the keyboard and the amazing Amber has given me the OK to use her angelic voice to tell the story of my images.

Dancing in the scrub….. {Mt Isa Children & Family Photography}

There are a few phrases that a potential client can say on the phone or on email that can make this photographer giddy,

“I’d like to try a themed session”,

“I’m expecting twins and I’d like newborn photos”,

“my daughter does ballet and my son does funk and hip hop dancing”

…. well you get the idea

So, those last few words came my way a few weeks ago and despite having to postpone our session TWICE due to bad weather which is almost UNHEARD for me here in good ol’ Mt Isa the day finally came and boy was it a great day for a bit of dancing in the scrub and hip-hopping in the streets!

This little guy had attitude…. love it!

His older sister was truly beautiful in everything she did

And all this only possible by the unfailing love of a devoted mother, and don’t you forget that kids!

Just a quick share today from this session, i suspect there may be more but for now goodnight all

Ok, ok, so they’re not things of course i know but this is one of my very favourite families ever! Big call i know but if you knew them you’d totally agree with me and you’d have this tune in your head right now too…. Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens…. ok, i’ll stop

….in fact i was pretty much happy dancing this whole session….

And just when we’re about to start wrapping it up and i couldn’t be any happier with what i already had in my hot little hands Nadine pulls out her ‘fierce’….

Oh.My.Goodness what can i say? Oh i know…. I’m so glad i know you

Oh and Karl? He scrubs up alright too

Over 5 years we’ve been friends and through laughter and tears I can still say you’re a hot favourite

Oh what a pleasure it was to meet this little one, he was just a whole lot of sleepy newborn goodness pretty much the whole time we were together. Occasionally he would open his peepers and see what all the oohing and aaahing was all about and once he was content that it was still about him then he would closed them again.

I do always love to see meet the smitten new parents too and oh my, this little guy was just perfect from head to toe, how could you not be head over heels? ^_^

What to Wear #1 {Mt Isa Family & Portrait Photography}

For the longest time i have been meaning to to write on this topic as it is a crucial part of the way i work. Bare with me, it may be a lot of reading but knowledge is power right? Let me enlighten you =)
When a potential client contacts me we get together and talk about what their vision for the session might be, we go through locations urban, grungy, bush, romantic etc Then i like to ask what is your ultimate purpose for your images and hope and pray you don’t just want them on CD so they can get tucked away in a draw never to be admired again, luckily i have the most wonderful clients and this hasn’t happened yet ^_^ The artist in me of course wants them printed BIG and for them to take center stage in your homes being admired by all who come in contact with you all! We usually come to some sort of compromise

Now the next thing is a key part of the final product and that is your clothing choices. WARDROBE! BOM BOM!!
Now it gets scary for so many of you…. Usually Mum is the one who calls and knows exactly what the kids might be wearing but isn’t quite sure of herself in the picture, convincing dad to even agree to the session was hard enough (yeah you know who you are) but now to get him to dress up too?

Well it’s simple, basically be who you are the best way you can be, and that goes for the whole family.

Your wardrobe does NOT have to be:

a) Brand New, as long as you’re wearing it with confidence then you’ll wear it well and you’ll feel good, I’m the ultimate op-shopper too so if it’s brand new to me that’s good enough for me ^_^

2. Ultimate Couture direct from the London Boutiques, unless that’s how you roll, and if so absolutely go for it! If you’re more comfortable going casual then you can rock that too.

3. Matching. Anything. Please for the love of all things beautiful and timeless I beg of you, please, pretty please don’t come matching. In all honesty if you long for that image of your family walking in a line all wearing jeans and white t-shirts then I’d have to say I’m probably not your best choice. Though I have done it in the past… well lets just leave it in the past

4. Perfectly contrived and immaculate. I say to my clients, if you were all going to dinner together at fabulous cafe in the city what would you wear? Excellent now bring a couple of extra choices and accessories like scarves and hats and vests in a suitcase and we’ll make it all work! Mixing it up is what gives you character and makes it all interesting. Layer it up i say!

So now at the risk of leaving you hanging let me stop right there and leave you with a couple of well stylized images found on Pinterest to get you thinking the way i think….

A long time in the making I finally got to take Miss Vanessa out on a mojo inspiring session, something just for me, no deadlines or requirements. These sessions can go either way and while I try and wait for a more quiet time to schedule them it just doesn’t seem to happen so when we saw a window of opportunity ~~and cancelled twice~~ we totally went for it!

Vanessa was exactly how i envisioned, feminine, innocent yet sensual and over the top beautiful! Despite a few nerves at the start she totally brought every bit of herself into these captures and the light on the day fell just right for me to capture it all. I am so blessed to know such beautiful people inside and out and that they just indulge me is icing on the cake!

I really hope you enjoy these and Vanessa, THANK YOU for being you from the bottom of my heart!

Meet Macy Anne…. {Mt Isa Newborn & Family Photographer}

Sweet little Macy Anne….. with a name like that she was only ever going to be this adorable little bundle you just want to snuggle and keep in your pocket ^_^ but of course, she might wriggle a little and there’s the other little problem of getting past her beautiful furry big brother who is just besotted with her and is slowly adjusting to the love being shared and not just all the attention on him.

I foresee a long and strong friendship between the two riddled with horse rides, Sonny wearing make up and a tiara and possibly Miss Macy eating a puppy biscuit or two in their lifetimes

Weekend Projects…. {Personal- Mt Isa Photographer}

I’ve always been some sort of crafty, and I’ve done a lot more in the past mainly scrapbooking and sewing but time just manages to elude me nowadays and my mind and soul sometimes craves the urge to create something. Just for me. Because i can

So last weeks effort was to make this wooden quote hanging using a few techniques i found in my cyber travels….

It had to be a quote i was happy with and this one is just perfect for my little flock ^_^

This week my effort is to have more frogs around the house, i love them you see much to some peoples disgust and at times in the past we’ve had them in the garden but not for a while so here’s my contribution to our yard

I think I’ll concentrate on this corner a little more so i can have a space that is just ‘me’ so stay tuned for more creative me

PS: there are fish and tadpoles in the pond already but they were a little camera shy….. new home and all and in case you’re wondering about toads living in there, well let me tell you that they cannot jump that high

Being a baby is such hard work, i mean you have to try and get yourself to sleep in this great big world after living in such a cosy environment for so long, with new noises and smells and everything feels funny on you softer than soft skin….. then there’s the having to wake up to eat, get changed, meet the relatives and everyone wants a piece of you! Just thinking about it all makes me tired….. Yawn……

Daisy and Matt, your little man is a true blessing and i thank you for sharing him with me ^_^

Long time coming….. {Mount Isa Childrens Photography}

There are times when i have a concept in my mind and i just have to make it a reality in the hopes that one day it’ll inspire you and your visions for your family sessions with me. My vision with a concept shoot is to make the captures timeless and probably more arty than what the usual would be. Something you would happily have in your home and wont feel the need to update every year as it would just become a family heirloom. Something your children would fight over who gets to keep it, something that creates conversation in your home.
So in line with my love for tea parties, all things girly and sweet i took my own little Miss 3 going on 16 and her two gorgeous friends out for a bush tea party. I’ll let the images do the talking but i will say this, all three girls are still talking about this day (which was actually back in August last year- i did say in my last blog that I was behind in my blogging didnt i?) and have asked me on several occasions when we’re doing it again!

Do you know of sisters who’d fit right in here? Or maybe cousins who would enjoy a teddy bears picnic?
